Up to £100k Grants Available for Creative Projects Enriching Communities in England

Arts Council National Lottery Project Grants

In a world of economic and social uncertainty, the arts and creative industries are more important to recovery than ever - not less

Research by Arts Council England (ACE) has found that the arts and culture sector added £10.8 billion to the economy in 2018, roughly equal to the contribution made by cities such as Liverpool and Sheffield, and more than agriculture and some areas of UK manufacturing. The arts are a powerful driver of growth and innovation.

Creative initiatives enrich society at large, build resilience and offer hope, which is why Grantify is proud to help people and organisations access valuable Arts Council National Lottery Project Grants.

Arts Council England administers an open-access funding programme for arts, museums and libraries projects, working to benefit people living in England. The fund supports thousands of individual artists, community and cultural organisations.

What is Available?

There are two grant streams available, one for grants of £1,000 up to £30,000, and another for grants of over £30,000 up to £100,000.

Awards are available for individuals and organisations for projects ‘directly creating and delivering creative and cultural activity; those which have a longer-term positive impact, such as organisational development, research and development and sector support and development,’ for a maximum of three years’ duration.

Who Can Apply?

Individuals and organisations can apply, as long as they meet the following criteria:

Individuals must:

  • Be based within (lives or has a business address in) the EU.
  • Have a UK bank account in the exact name they’re applying in.
  • Be at least 18 years old.

Organisations must:

  • Be based within the EU.
  • Have a registered office within the UK.
  • Have a UK business bank account in the exact name they’re applying in, with two signatories from people who are authorised to sign in the organisation’s name.
  • Have an accountable person who is at least 18 years old.

Applications are also welcomed from consortium and partnerships.

Disciplines Supported

Activities must have outcomes that focus on one or more of these disciplines, and engage people in England to experience, become involved with or participate in creativity and culture:

  • Music
  • Theatre
  • Dance
  • Visual Arts
  • Literature
  • Combined arts
  • Museums and collections
  • Libraries

A project can sit within one discipline or reach across several. Creativity and culture don’t always fall into tidy categories!

Applications need to demonstrate high quality projects, strong public engagement, a fully formed project budget and experience from those delivering the project.

Projects now need to explain how they align with ACE’s Outcomes:

  • Creative People – Everyone can develop and express creativity throughout their life
  • Cultural Communities – Villages, towns and cities thrive through a collaborative approach to culture
  • A Creative and Cultural Country – England’s cultural sector is innovative, collaborative and international
  • Management.

You can read more about the outcomes here.

Funding will also be considered for:

  • Creative media: using tech to make or share work
  • Non-arts organisations
  • Health and wellbeing, social inclusion, heritage or sport

Activities can include:

  • Developing skills
  • Marketing
  • Organisation development
  • Project-related overheads
  • If applying for funds for touring: no more that 15% of touring activity should take place outside of England
